The Viking Flower Club was formed in 1976 when a group of ladies interested in flower arranging founded a committee choosing a name for the new club which reflected the history of the village where King Harold routed the Norse invaders in 1066 (Stamford Bridge near York).
The club affiliated to NAFAS, the National Association of Flower Arrangment Societies, enabling members to join in local, national and international activities and events.
NAFAS was formed in 1959 and is a unifying and mainstay to thousands of men, women and children whose love of flowers has opened up a whole new world of creativity.
NAFAS is a a registered charity for educational and cultural activities.
The North East Area covers Yorkshire and is one of 21 Areas affiliated to the National Association.
